One of my most favorite times of the year is coming up. It’s the time of the year when we get to celebrate my favorite city. Join me in celebrating Carlsbad Day this Saturday, April 27th, at LEGOLAND Resort California! The annual “Celebrate Carlsbad Day” starts at 1pm and ends at 8pm. Specially-priced $20 LEGOLAND Resort tickets will be on sale at various locations before the event.
The event will be benefiting the Carlsbad Educational Foundation (CEF) to support district-wide science initiatives for students at all Carlsbad Unified School District (CUSD) Schools.
Make sure to head over to Miniland U.S.A. between 2pm and 5pm for a special performance by CUSD students!

Happy Valentine's Day, folks! I can't wait to surprise my wife with all the romantic things I have in store for today and this weekend. Some activities I've considered for us are:
Carlsbad, CA is considered to be a romantic vacation spot for couples, especially for those looking for a staycation type of trip! Just ask
TravelMamas and her romantic trip at the beautiful
Sheraton Carlsbad Resort.

Can you believe that there are only 3 days left of January? This month flew by, especially because I've been trying very hard to resolve all the things I've wanted to accomplish, such as indulging in more seafood, making plans with my sister who lives on the East Coast, pampering myself at the local spas, and exercising more in the great outdoors!
My final New Year's Resolution is to learn how to surf! Yes, as a resident of Carlsbad, CA, I have yet to learn how to hop on a surfboard and ride the waves. So this year, I'm going to dedicate part of my time to conquer this awesome sport -- and it shouldn't be too difficult because there's a great surf school here in Carlsbad!
The Whitlock Surf Experience provides surf lessons,...

This month is rounding out pretty nicely. I've made
plans with my sister on the East Coast to come out here in April and I've gone to get
my feathers exfoliated ;)
My 4th New Year's Resolution is to exercise more. A bird can't just eat and not burn some calories! Got to be fit for the upcoming spring season. So I decided that since I live in such a beautiful city, I'll exercise outdoors!
There are so many activities to do in Carlsbad, I'm not really sure where to start. Hiking along the
Aviara Trails in the morning sounds like a good start. With so many diverse trails with varying inclines in one area, I would get a full body work out!
Or I can surf the concrete wave and head to the
Carlsbad Skateboard Park, my kids would...

Flying around and exploring Carlsbad, CA can be a tiring task -- one I thoroughly enjoy! But there comes a time when a bird just wants to pick up his webbed feet and lean back with his feathers outstretched.
So my third New Year's Resolution is to pamper myself more often! Carlsbad offers so many relaxation opportunities so I'll be accomplishing my New Year's Resolution in no time.
Voted a top destination for spas, Carlsbad is the perfect place to rejuvenate from 2012 and relax more in 2013.

Happy (taco) Tuesday, folks! I can't wait to grub on some fish tacos today (gotta keep my
first New Year's Resolution!), but this morning, I'm thinking about my second New Year's Resolution:
Spend more time with my family. It's been awhile since I've last seen my sis and her family. They reside on the East Coast so it's a bit difficult to see each other often. My sister, Sunny, lives in Cape Cod with her husband, James. "Uncle Jimmy," as my gullies call him, is actually a pelican who grew up on the other side of the country and hasn't been to Carlsbad since he and my sister got married!
Fun fact: they got hitched at the beautiful Grand Pacific Palisades. It helps to have a brother as the Official Carlsbad Concierge ;)
So to...

Hello friends!
Squawky here and starting today, I'll be writing about my New Year's Resolutions all month long. If you checked out the blog post from yesterday, you'll see that I have a good list going. My first New Year's Resolution is to
eat more seafood! Carlsbad, CA gives everyone who visits the opportunity to indulge in locally-caught seafood at some of the best restaurants ever (in my opinion anyway!). For example, West Steak & Seafood has their own "West Garden" where they provide farm-to-table meals for their patrons! It doesn't get fresher than that.
I'll be making my way to these seafood restaurants in Carlsbad to make sure I keep my resolution.
