The Complete Vacation Destination

Carlsbad, California - Great beaches, world-class shopping, restaurants with character and the home of LEGOLAND California, make Carlsbad the preferred year-round vacation destination.

LEGOLAND® was created by the Danish toy manufacturer and is the only theme park of its kind in the United States. The 128-acre park is designed to stimulate the imagination of children from 2 to12 and is full of fun and surprises. Six distinctive play areas feature unique attractions, family rides, restaurants, opportunities to build and areas to explore. About 30 million LEGO bricks were used to create more than 1,000 colorful LEGO models that decorate the park, adding to its appeal.

LEGOLAND® California is the perfect addition to the Carlsbad lifestyle. Long recognized as one of the most picturesque coastal communities in Southern California, Carlsbad is blessed with sun-splashed beaches, three graceful lagoons and a quaint downtown Village.

Often referred to as "The Village by the Sea," Carlsbad combines the charm of a European village with the laid-back manner of a beach town that hasn't yet gone commercial. Explore the narrow, tree-lined streets of the Village offering boutiques, trendy shops, sidewalk cafes and coffee houses.

Along the beach bluff near the Village is a seawall walkway that is popular with joggers and walkers. On a clear day, the view from the seawall extends south to La Jolla and north past the Oceanside pier to the sweeping bluffs and mountains of Camp Pendleton.

The lagoons are tranquil and unspoiled, providing safe haven for a wide variety of wildlife.

Carlsbad can boast of two magnificent resorts; the internationally renowned La Costa Resort and Spa and the splendid new Four Seasons Resort Aviara. Mingle with the rich and famous as you enjoy accommodations, golf, tennis and elaborate spas and excellent dining!

So after you've shared a wonderful day with your children at LEGOLAND® California, you may wonder if there is anything else to see and do during your stay in Carlsbad. The answer is YES! How about a biplane ride along the coast, a visit to the Children's Museum, or take a tour through one of Carlsbad's golf manufacturing facilities?

Why not pamper yourself with an herbal wrap at the Carlsbad Mineral Water Spa, or enjoy a shopping excursion in the Village or at Carlsbad Premium Outlets?

If you simply want to relax and recharge your inner soul, you can soak up the sun on the beach or take nature walks around the lagoons. Or enjoy a leisurely stroll on the seawall walkway below the beach bluffs. After browsing in delightful boutiques and antique shops or just relaxing over lunch at a sidewalk cafe, you will succumb to Carlsbad's charms.

It is easy to have fun in Carlsbad. Stop in at the Visitor Information Center in the historic Old Sante Fe Depot in the heart of the Village. The Carlsbad Convention and Visitors Bureau staff and volunteers will be pleased to offer suggestions to make your stay more enjoyable. The center is open Monday-Friday 9 to 5, Saturday 10 to 4, Sunday 10 to 3 or contact the Bureau at (800) CARLSBAD or (760) 434-6093.
