10 Days of Floral Inspiration in Carlsbad’s
Culinary and Wellness Scene.

Timed to the coming arrival of spring, Visit Carlsbad announces a new culinary and wellness initiative which builds off the well-founded appreciation for The Flower Fields atCarlsbad Ranch, and creates a new series of floral experiences to drive visitors to the destination: Petal to Plate by Visit Carlsbad.

Petal to Plate by Visit Carlsbad will be the city’s first 10 day celebration of fine flowers, wellness, food and drink, carried out in 12 different experiences across the city, from hotels, restaurant, spas, and even golf courses. The activities will be held from Thursday, April 20 to Sunday, April 30, 2017.

By partnering with local chefs, mixologists, and resort teams, Visit Carlsbad has created a floral inspired menu of experiences for enjoyment beyond The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch. Guests can to tour the fields and taste the delights of spring back in town with participating bars and restaurants. By “following their nose,” visitors will have 10 days to celebrate all the senses in Carlsbad!

According to Sam Ross, executive director for Visit Carlsbad, “The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch are a unique spring experience in Southern California. We have anopportunity to go beyond the agriculture aspect of the fields and create a grand culinary experience for visitors to enjoy when they come to Carlsbad. We’re extremely happy to have great partners come together and create this brilliant bouquet of 12 delightful happenings.”

Petal to Plate coincides this year with a new edition of the American Grown Field to Vase Dinner Tour, an annual private event that places seasonal, local and sustainable American Grown flowers at the center of the table alongside locally grown food, beer, and wine from the region. This year, the Field to Vase dinner will happen on Thursday, April 20,coinciding with the kick off of the celebration.

A sampling of the 12 flower-inspired culinary and wellness experiences includes:

Omni La Costa Resort & Spa: The resort will amp up its usual amazing assortment of flowers on the grounds, offer guided tours and incorporate selected flowers into treatments at the Spa. They’ll also feature flowers in the Art of Aromatherapy class, and include lavender, neroli and rose-geranium scents. Bistro 65 will offer floral craft cocktails such as Rosebiscus Citron Vodka, Wild Hibiscus Prosecco, Pansy & Cucumber Splash, Chamomile Whiskey Tea, Rosewater Hard Lemonade, and the Elderflower Gin Cocktail.

Cape Rey Carlsbad: Adventurists of all types will be keen to start off their Petal To Plate experience at Chandler’s Restaurant with the specially-created Cape Rey Carlsbad Floral Mimosa. They have also created a Field to Flowers Board featuring candied clementine, lavender and wild fennel pollen goat cheese, wildflower honey, sprouted sunflowercrostini, and star daisy, and a Hibiscus Sorbet for dessert. Guests are invited to an 80-minute Hibiscus Scrub and Massage with hibiscus petals, flower essences, Dead Sea salt, organic raw sugar and nourishing oils at the Ocean Crest Spa.

Park Hyatt Aviara Resort, Golf Club and Spa: Argyle Restaurant will offer a lunch special featuring a Seared Baja Striped Bass with spring flower blossoms followed by aFarmer’s Market Berry Tart with citrus crème fraiche mousse, and a mixed berry hibiscus sorbet. Guests can also enjoy a refreshing Carlsbad Wise cocktail with Gin, Citrus, and flower borage. At the Aviara Spa, guests will be able to enjoy a 50 or 80 minute Petal to Plate Massage Ritual. There will also be a special Green Fee Rate for guests who dine at Argyle Restaurant.

West Inn & Suites: The well-acclaimed Bistro West Restaurant will be offering a Mâche, Rocket, and West Farm Blossom Salad and a Field Of Dreams Martini made with strawberry vodka, elderflower liqueur, pomegranate juice, rose sugar rim, with a lemon twist, and mint garnish.

Sheraton Carlsbad Resort & Spa: The TWENTY/20 Grill will offer a Crab Stuffed Squash Blossom with Romesco, Le Fleur (twist on a “French 75”), and The Wesley Cocktails. At the Ocean Pearl Spa, they will offer a Hibiscus Hydration full body exfoliation using an all-natural Hibiscus body polish, complete with a nourishing hydration application.

Other participating venues include the city’s hottest new restaurant Campfire, whose mixologist Leigh Lacap will offer the Aloe Black cocktail, made with tequila, aloe vera, violate, cucumber, and lemon. Joining in on the celebration are also the Holiday Inn Carlsbad Stratus Restaurant with a Gin Blossom Martini and a Floating Petal Fresh Mahi, and the Hilton Garden Inn Carlsbad Beach with their Carlsbad Local Farm Strawberry Salad with pansies, and a floral topped Baby Portabella Mushroom.
