The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch
Noted for being one of the most beloved spring traditions in the area, the ranch opens annually in March for six to eight weeks showcasing the Giant Tecolote Ranunculus. Also check out the miniature rose garden and the All-American Rose walk-of-fame that features 170 All-American Rose selection winners since 1940.
Special events abound at the ranch including open-air concerts, an orchid show, bonsai show, and an exotic plant sale where visitors can snap up some of the botanical treasures. The Canon Photography Workshop teaches visitors the art of macro snapshots. Children love the antique tractor wagon ride, Santa's playground and the Sweet Pea maze. Other favorites include the Carlsbad Mining Company, a sluicing operation that allows kids to pan for semi-presious stones.
