Batiquitos Lagoon
Overview
Batiquitos Lagoon is a 526-acre coastal salt marsh with tidal mud flats and is one of the few remaining tidal wetlands on the Southern California coast. Over 185 species of birds can be seen here throughout the year. The lagoon is a destination for serious and casual bird watchers, artists and naturalists. Docent-led nature tours and self-guided walks are popular with outdoor enthusiasts and walkers.
The health of the lagoon is overseen by the Batiquitos Lagoon Foundation, a volunteer-driven non-profit dedicated to preserve, protect and enhance the lagoon. The BLF also operates a Nature Center that is open to visitors Mon - Fri 9:00 - 12:30 Sat and Sun 9:00 - 3:00.
Please visit the BLF website at: batiquitoslagoon.org for additional information.
